1. Key Data Inputs

Each camera’s specifications and test results are normalized into the AERIS scale using objective benchmarks. Inputs typically include:

  • Resolution & Sensor – megapixels, sensor size, and sensor technology (CMOS, BSI, etc.).
  • Optics – lens aperture, focal length, and focus performance.
  • Dynamic Range & Low Light – measured lux sensitivity, IR range, and color retention under low illumination.
  • AI & Detection Features – accuracy of human/vehicle analytics, false alarm filtering, and detection zones.
  • Audio Capability – recording clarity, duplex support, and acoustic coverage.
  • Network Performance – stability, PoE class, bitrate handling, and cross-platform compatibility.

Example: Cameras with higher-end sensors, verified true WDR, and color-capable low-light performance will naturally rank higher in Image Quality and Night Performance — while entry-level models with limited AI or plastic housings may earn standard-level ratings.

The AERIS Base Score is derived from a weighted blend of all seven dimensions. Image Quality and Night Performance usually carry the most weight, followed by AI Detection, Build Quality, and Network Integration. Audio and Installation factors contribute to the usability and reliability score but hold slightly less influence overall.

This ensures that a camera with great image quality but weak build quality doesn’t unfairly outrank a balanced, professional model built for demanding environments.
